Owl Baby and Mother

This drawing of an owl and her baby is something I was working on for a baby shower invite idea
. I also think it’s cute on this postcard.

I came up with the idea of a stork carrying a baby owl as an image for the back, and thought that made a cute card also!

This is my Zazzle shop page Wishingchair, any comments, suggestions or advice much appreciated! I’ve been working on getting more designs up.

Haunted House Drawing, (with cat, pumpkin, and halloween owl below)

This haunted house drawing was done in pen, with color and lighting effects added in GIMP. Getting a head start on my party invitation halloween zazzle designs ( a head start for me, anyway!)

This guy works great on black background designs: (like the tote bag linked). Black cats are my favorite because we had one growing up just like this with a little white under her chin called Sparkles, and she was the gentlest most lovely cat you could ever meet.

The pumpkin is a more simple design, I thought it might be fun for kids (like this cute creeper design)

Last of all another owl, this time with a halloween witch’s hat- the drawing turned out a little bit grumpy looking, but I still like him, and thought he’d be cute on stickers.

Insects from the garden…

The new ‘stitched’ effect that I’m trying on the edges of my drawings helps them stand out well from the background, but after this series I’d like to try something more stylized in black and white

This butterfly (click for zazzle key chain) is  part of a  series of insects I am working on I would like to try a centipede but I actually fingd them pretty creepy…

I think I prefer the caterpillar (click for zazzle bag) is cuter than a centipede and a childhood favorite of mine…

A little brown owl drawing

I have been going threw a short owl phase recently, and came up with this little guy. He was quite an intricate drawing, and then I added the colours in GIMP

I’ve been working him into cards , bags and some other items on my zazzle store. I feel like I’m getting the hang of designing things on zazzle more, though it’s definitely a process.

Zazzle designs- Hipster Birds…

I’ve been setting up my own Zazzle Store, and it is so much more work than I expected. It is also highly addictive.

I came upon the idea to draw a bird who is a hipster. I live in an apartment, and I get a lot of bird visiting my balcony and am always struck by the great personality that birds have. Most of the birs that come by are sparrows and other little brorwn birds like this guy. I put black-rimmed glasses on him because that’s what I identify as a typical hipster look… maybe next time I could try skinny jeans, but I don’t know how his feet would fit into converse!

I also came up with a hand-drawn tartan design using a pencil effect, which seemed appropriate to the hipster theme.

I then tried him on some products I thought he would look cool on:

Hipster Bird Bag in Cartoon Tartan Courier Bags>

The messenger bag is my favourite style to design, because I love that you can choose the colour of the inside and the piping, it makes the whole bag come together in a much cooler way. However, it is also one of the priciest items on Zazzle, so I think I need to curb my expensive tastes

I also came up with a cool tie design, which made use of the tartan in a more concentrated, tiled format:

Because I had given him a green circle background, he worked well on their more circular items like buttons and keychains:

The thing with Zazzle is that one product idea can lead to another, and you could literally spend hours trying them all, so I’m trying not to let it become an obsession…
